But there are signs of progress in the fight against childhood obesity. A new report highlights success stories from across the nation, including Southern California, where Kaiser Permanente has partnered with community groups to help kids move more and eat better.

Kaiser Permanente kicks off a national effort to raise awareness around bicycle and helmet safety this month. As we roll into May, it’s a great time to dust off those bicycles in your garage, give them a quick tune-up and turn your usual commute to school into something fun and healthy for the whole family. Just make sure to wear a bicycle helmet!

At their recent 2015 Leaders Summit, the Alliance for a Healthier Generation celebrated its 10-year anniversary and acknowledged schools, industry leaders, corporate partners and programs that have been exemplary in their work toward promoting childhood health. The Alliance also recognized Kaiser Permanente for its efforts in support of children’s health.

Fire Up Your Feet offers free resources, an online activity tracker healthy fundraising and more, all aimed at increasing physical activity before, during and after school for students, parents, school staff and teachers. This year’s Fall Activity Challenge runs October 1 - 31.

The results are in and schools across the country are celebrating their wins from the 2015 Fire Up Your Feet Spring Challenge competition. At participating schools, parents, students and school staff kept track of their physical activity during the month long challenge using the Fire Up Your Feet online activity tracker.
