The Education – Health Connection

Good health is critical to ensuring the best conditions for both teaching and learning. Health impacts educational attainment and success. And evidence shows that more education often leads to better health and career outcomes: better jobs, higher income earnings, and better access to resources that reinforce health.

Students can’t adequately learn if their health needs aren’t addressed. And school employees can’t be at their best if they don’t have the supports for their own health or resources to support the health challenges of the students they care for. Student health and school employee health work together to inform the overall health of the school community; the health challenges of one group impacts everyone in the school environment.

A multitude of research makes the case for the importance of addressing health in schools as a means to address good health overall, for individuals and the community. Explore some of the resources below for case-making studies.
