Alliance for a Healthier Generation

Kaiser Permanente and the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a leading children’s health organization that advances equitable whole child health, are partners in the Action Center, an online site to access tools and guidance to create healthier environments that support students’ physical, social, and emotional well-being.

In the Action Center, district leaders, teachers and school staff can access tailored resources at no cost to identify opportunities, take actionable steps, and track progress on a range of health topics and issues.

One of the first steps in the Action Center is to take an assessment, either the Thriving Schools Integrated Assessment (TSIA) or the Resilience in School Environments (RISE) Index. Both will lead you to research-based strategies, on-demand trainings, and expert-created content to support action plans.

America’s Healthiest Schools

Every year Kaiser Permanente sponsors America’s Healthiest Schools, one of the country’s longest-running national recognition programs, with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. The awards celebrate schools for best practices and policies in up to nine areas related to the physical, mental, and social-emotional health of students, staff, and families.

RISE Index and Action Center

The RISE Index and Action Center is part of our Resilience in School Environments initiative and offers schools and districts with a variety of assessment tools, trainings, and guidance. The Action Center is hosted on the Alliance for a Healthier Generation’s website.

Healthy Schools Program

The Alliance for a Healthier Generation’s Healthy Schools Program helps schools create healthier environments that promote physical activity and healthy eating. Enrollment is free and gives members access to resources, trainings, and technical assistance.
