Announcing Ready, Set, RISE! — Digital Resources Supporting Emotional Resiliency in Teachers and Students

Amidst the many challenges of the coronavirus pandemic, creating safe and supportive learning environments for teaching and learning continues to be a top priority for school leaders and for Kaiser Permanente. It is more apparent than ever that schools play a vital role in supporting the health of students, families, and school staff. They are a critical element to creating thriving communities, even as students may be attending school virtually.

While there are many efforts focused on student resilience, Kaiser Permanente recognizes the importance of addressing staff resilience as a key strategy in building safe and supportive school communities. To that end, we are excited to introduce Ready, Set RISE! — a new series of free, digital resources offered as part of our Resilience in School Environments (RISE) initiative.

Ready, Set, RISE! offers educators a series of on-demand e-learning modules built to highlight the importance of human connection and empathy in schools. The series provides educators with a foundational understanding of trauma-informed educational practices and policies they can use to create more student-centered learning environments.

The first two modules are available now: Trauma Informed Care and Educator Well-Being focuses on educator self-care in any teaching environment, while Cultural Sensitivity and Equity offers educators new strategies for helping students neutralize the effects of adversity, societal oppression, and implicit bias.

Two additional modules will be available in early 2021: Trauma Informed Care in the Educational Environment and Transforming into a Resilient School. Each 45-minute module, provided at no cost to schools or districts, comes with a user guide and pre- and post-assessment questions to facilitate the learning process and help build proficiency.

We would like to acknowledge — Discovery Education and Alliance for a Healthier Generation — who have been key to bringing Ready, Set, RISE! to school audiences.
