Resilience in School Environments (RISE)
Kaiser Permanente Thriving Schools developed Resilience in School Environments, or RISE, to empower schools to create safe and supportive learning environments by cultivating practices that strengthen the social and emotional health of all school employees and students.
RISE works with schools and districts to prepare staff to better understand and integrate social and emotional well-being into all aspects of school life, both theirs and their students.
Benefits of RISE
RISE programming aims to:
- Increase staff job satisfaction and reducing staff stress
- Improve safety, connectedness, and relationships among students and staff and also within the whole school community
- Increase skills related to social and emotional learning among student and staff
- Increase mental health supports for students and staff
To help schools achieve these outcomes – RISE provides a variety of customizable resources for schools and districts – these are scalable, virtual, and available for any school or district to access at no cost.

Ready, Set, RISE!
Offered as part of our Resiliencd in School Environments initiative, Ready, Set, RISE! is a series of e-learning modules that provides opportunities for educators to learn about and implement trauma-informed practices and care in the school environment. The curriculum is hosted on the Discovery Education website.
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
Under the U.S. Department of Education, the National Technical Assistance Center on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports provides resources and support to improve outcomes for students with or at-risk for disabilities, enhance school climate and school safety, and improve conditions for learning to promote the well-being of all students.
