Active students are healthy students. That’s why Fire Up Your Feet is once again recognizing schools across the country for their efforts to improve the health and physical activity of students, families and school staff. More than 480 schools and communities participated in the program’s fall 2016 challenge. They walked and ran, biked and jogged, and played soccer and basketball. Along the way, they gained a sense of accomplishment and had fun.
This year’s Spring Activity Challenge just wrapped up and the results are in. Several schools are walking away with cash prizes that will put them on the path to even greater success, helping them build school environments that strengthen and support opportunities for more physical activity.
Fire Up Your Feet offers free resources, an online activity tracker healthy fundraising and more, all aimed at increasing physical activity before, during and after school for students, parents, school staff and teachers. This year’s Fall Activity Challenge runs October 1 - 31.

Walk Bike to School Day has become part of a movement for year-round safe routes to school and a celebration – with record breaking participation among thousands of schools – each October. In a continued effort to boost the prevalence of walking and build healthier, more walkable communities, Kaiser Permanente physicians and employees came out in full force again this year to mark International Walk to School Day
