To support that idea of creating a culture of wellness, Kaiser Permanente partner School-Based Health Alliance fashioned an innovative resource to guide health advocates as they create, implement and sustain schoolwide wellness efforts.
A key to improved health care for students is access. School-based health centers are where many schools' primary care and behavioral health staff collaboratively address the health needs of students. And they do it where children and adolescents spend most of their time — at school.
Since 2013, the School-Based Health Alliance, a nonprofit network that serves as the national voice for school-based health care, has been working to expand the power of SBHCs to influence health beyond the walls of the school-based clinics and wellness centers, into the school and surrounding community through a program known as Hallways to Health.
