Happy New Year to all of our readers out there!

January is the month for fresh starts, so in that spirit, Thriving Schools is proud to unveil a newly refreshed website navigation with new wellness resources to help start your year off right. Check these pages out:

Healthy Eating – You can find a helpful list of ideas for supporting healthier food choices in schools and at school events and celebrations. Access information about the Smarter Lunchrooms Movement through this section.

Physical Activity – Ideas for promoting more physical activity in school through in-class exercises, support for active transportation and quality physical education and recess can be found here. You can also access information about Fire Up Your Feet and get more information about upcoming physical activity challenges in your region.

School Employee Wellness – There’s a wealth of new material here (which we will be diving into in a forthcoming blog post). Access a “School Wellness Champion Start-up Kit” with great ideas. Or get tips for how to spruce up your school employee break-room to make it more conducive to overall employee happiness.

494960353Healthy School Environment – Find simple ideas for getting started and sustaining changes in your school environment. Learn how forming a wellness committee can be a great first step in engaging school employees and the wider school community in supporting health.

Other enhancements – We’ve also re-organized our News Blog to simplify the breakdown of posts into success stories, events and announcements, stories that lift up the work of Thriving Schools, and other miscellaneous posts. And in the research section of the site, you’ll find a budding list of research that Kaiser Permanente and other partners have helped to make the link between schools and health.

This is just the tip of the iceberg, as they say. More great resources will be unveiled in the coming weeks. So stay tuned to our site, come back and visit often, and continue to follow us on @ThrivingSchools for the latest releases. Also, don’t hesitate to let us know if there are other resources that we can provide to support you in helping your school to thrive.
